Scandinavian Avionics Norway
The first expansion – growing the SA horizon
In 1980, only two years after Scandinavian Avionics was founded, Scandinavian Avionics Norway (SA Norway) became the second location within what would later develop into The SA Group. Expanding the company’s capabilities and presence in the aviation market proved to be a great success. From the beginning, close cooperation and project execution between the two locations became a natural part of operations—and this collaboration remains strong today.
At SA Norway, we are able to perform most of the group’s capabilities locally, particularly within component maintenance services, and aircraft modification programs. We take pride in meeting our customers’ needs with high-quality solutions while maintaining full compliance with all regulatory standards to ensure safety and reliability.
SA Norway serves a wide variety of customers, particularly within the mid-sized fixed-wing aircraft and helicopter segments. Our strong and strategic location at Oslo Gardermoen Airport also allows us to support the extensive airline traffic operating through Norway’s main international airport.
A Broad Range of Capabilities
As part of The SA Group’s turn-key avionics solution concept, SA Norway supports the aviation industry with both aircraft modification programs and MRO services. Our capabilities include authorized ELT maintenance, ramp checks (RVSM, GPS, NAV, COMM, TCAS, XPDR, etc.), troubleshooting, and aircraft modifications.
In addition to the core capabilities within The SA Group, SA Norway has exploited its strategic location and expanded its services over the past decade to include a fully automated battery shop, oxygen test lab, and complete galley equipment support workshop, further strengthening our technical offering to the aviation industry.
A Strong project record
With a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction, SA Norway has completed more than 1,000 projects over the past 45+ years. Throughout these years, we have built extensive experience across a wide range of avionics and technical services.
Through our close cooperation with the headquarters in Billund and other group divisions, we combine skills, capabilities, and experience to deliver comprehensive support to our customers as part of The SA Group’s turn-key solutions.
Battery shop
Through our modern battery shop, we perform deepcycling, diagnostics, repair, and overhaul of aircraft main batteries. With the capacity to run diagnostics on up to six batteries simultaneously, we ensure efficient turnaround times and strong operational capacity.
Our concept is both cost-effective and flexible, offering operators flying to and from Oslo Gardermoen Airport a high level of service combined with competitive pricing.
Capabilities include:
- Aircraft Main-battery maintenance
- Service for a wide scope of Ni-Cd and sealed lead-acid batteries
- High-quality and efficient turnaround times
Oxygen Services
Another specialized capability at SA Norway is MRO services for aircraft oxygen cylinders and regulators, including inspections, refilling, and overhaul.
We provide full overhaul capability for oxygen systems, including hydrostatic testing of cylinders and overhaul of regulators, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
Capabilities include:
- Wide scope of MRO services for aircraft oxygen systems
- Oxygen valve and regulator maintenance
- Hydrostatic testing of oxygen cylinders
- Oxygen refilling station compliant with MIL-PRF-27210 requirements
- Clean-room facility ISO 7 / Class 10,000
- US DOT and EASA certified operations
Galley Equipment Services
Scandinavian Avionics Norway provides comprehensive maintenance and support services for aircraft galley equipment, including beverage makers, water boilers, and steam ovens.
As an authorized Collins Aerospace repair facility for their galley product line, we deliver expert maintenance and repair services backed by the OEM. In addition, we welcome equipment from a wide range of other manufacturers, offering flexible and cost-effective support tailored to your operational needs.
Our Capabilities:
- We provide a complete range of galley equipment services, including: Testing, repair, and overhaul.
- Supply and stock management of spare parts and consumables.
- Professional cleaning and descaling services.
- Cost-effective repair solutions designed to maximize equipment availability.
- Technical support and troubleshooting assistance
For fleet operators, we offer customized maintenance programs and rotable support agreements designed to improve dispatch reliability while reducing operating costs.
Our maintenance contracts typically include:
- Competitive pricing structures
- Guaranteed turnaround times
- Strategic spare parts stocking to support agreed service levels
- Tailored service programs aligned with your maintenance requirements
- Direct access to our technical and engineering specialists
Our close collaboration with customers’ engineering departments enables rapid resolution of recurring issues. For example, repeated “No Fault Found” (NFF) cases often indicate underlying aircraft-related problems rather than equipment failures. By identifying trends early and sharing our findings with your engineering team, we help reduce unnecessary troubleshooting, avoid excessive component rotations, and lower overall fleet maintenance costs.
Why Local Support Matters
We focus on products that can become operational bottlenecks for aircraft operators. Many components are heavy, expensive to transport, or classified as dangerous goods, making shipment to distant repair facilities both costly and time-consuming.
Maintaining these products locally offers clear advantages:
- Lower transportation and logistics costs
- Faster turnaround times
- Reduced administrative handling
- Improved fleet availability
- Direct communication with a responsive and experienced support team
Built Around Your Fleet
Every fleet has unique operational challenges. We work closely with operators to identify components that create unnecessary downtime, excessive logistics costs, or maintenance challenges.
If we do not currently support a specific product, we are always ready to evaluate new capabilities. Our organization is agile and responsive, allowing us to move quickly from concept to approved maintenance solutions.
At Scandinavian Avionics, we believe maintenance should be local, responsive, and value-driven. By bringing specialized equipment support closer to your operation, we help reduce costs, minimize downtime, and improve fleet performance. Let us show you how a more agile maintenance partner can make a difference for your operation.
